HEADS OF DEPARTMENT FROM THE BEGINNING TILL DATE
As has been indicated above, the designation of the Head of Department was originally Chief Engineer as was and is still the nomenclature on many Railways. The designation "Chief Engineer" was changed to Director of Civil Engineering in 1979 during the RITES of India era.
