Signaling and Telecommunications (Headed by Deputy Director Mallam Roni Bello Ahmed)
Signal and Telecommunication department is responsible for the preparation of Signal and Telecommunication schemes, construction, installation and maintenance of all such apparatus that may be deemed expedient in the Railway Transport system. The department is headed by the Deputy Director Signal and Telecommunication, under whom are two Assistant Directors, two Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineers and two Asst. Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineers at the headquarter. One Assistant Director, Chief Engineer and Asst. Chief Engineer are responsible for Signaling while another Assistant Director, Chief Engineer and Asst. Chief Engineer are in charge of Telecommunication.
At the district level, District Signal and Telecommunication Engineers are in charge with complementary posts and officers similar to the establishment obtainable in other department of NRC. The DSTE is generally responsible to the Railway District Managers on matters concerning the district but answerable to the Director (S&T) in all technical matters within his area of jurisdiction.
